Getting Around

The base rate for taxis is between 3-5 RMB, but usually you can bargain with the driver. Tourists to Hailar may rent a car to travel around and they are usually charged 400-500 RMB per day including rental, fuel and other possible charge. There are also cars for rental charged based on the routes; for example, it's about 100 RMB from Hailar to Chenbaerhuqi and 200 RMB from Manzhouli to Hulun Lake.

To and From Hailar

Air

Hailar Dongshan Airport is about 7 km from downtown. There are flights to Beijing (about two hours), Hohhot (about two hours and a half) and Xilinhaote weekly.

Railway

Harbin-Manzhouli Railway goes through Hailar. There are trains from and to Beijing, Harbin, Hohhot and Baotou. The trains running between Beijing and Manzhouli also go via Hailar.

Bus

Hailar is a bus transportation hub of Hulunbeier City. Although it's convenient to take long-distance buses to travel to nearby cities, counties or towns, it's not a good way for tourists because you may miss the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the prairie along the way.
